The final smartphone race of 2025 has reached its peak. Today, OnePlus officially launched the OnePlus 15R in India, making it the first device globally to ship with the highly anticipated Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 processor.
While most flagships are struggling to cross the one-day battery mark, OnePlus has dropped a “battery bomb” on the competition with a staggering 7,400 mAh cell.
The Specs: A Giant Leap Forward
The OnePlus 15R isn’t just a minor upgrade; it’s a showcase of 2026 technology arriving early.
- The Processor: The Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 delivers 36% faster CPU speeds and a massive 46% boost in AI performance compared to last year. This is the hardware designed to run the free AI tools from Jio and Airtel without breaking a sweat.
- The Battery: At 7,400 mAh, this is one of the largest batteries ever seen in a mainstream “slim” flagship. Coupled with 100W SuperVOOC charging, OnePlus claims you can go from 1% to 100% in just 38 minutes.
- The Display: A 165Hz Pro-XDR AMOLED panel that makes gaming and scrolling feel like liquid.
India Pricing & Availability
OnePlus has kept the pricing aggressive to maintain its “Flagship Killer” status in the Indian market:
- 12GB + 256GB: ₹47,999
- 16GB + 512GB: ₹52,999
Pre-orders are live right now on Amazon India, OnePlus.in, and offline partners like Reliance Digital and Croma. Early bird buyers can also avail of a ₹3,000 instant discount with ICICI and SBI bank cards.
The “GodLike” Partnership
In a move to capture the massive Indian mobile gaming audience, OnePlus also announced a partnership with GodLike Esports. The OnePlus 15R will be the official device for their BGMI (Battlegrounds Mobile India) roster, signaling that this phone is built specifically for high-performance sustained gaming.
Our Initial Take: Should You Buy It?
If you are currently holding a phone from 2023 or earlier, the OnePlus 15R is a no-brainer. The jump in AI performance alone makes it “future-proof” for the next 3–4 years. However, if you recently bought a flagship in early 2025, you might want to wait for the OnePlus 15 Pro series expected in Q1 2026.
The Bottom Line: OnePlus has set a very high bar for Samsung and Apple’s 2026 lineups. With a price tag under ₹50k, the 15R is currently the most powerful phone in India.
